“always be kinder than you feel”

Love, Like, Lust

Song: Apparition - Instrumental by Tony Anderson

What truly makes a relationship last?

Some begin quietly, slowly - and then ignite with a fire so intense it burns too bright to endure.

And over time, you start to wonder if the signs were always there.

You hoped they would soften. You believed that maybe love would be enough. Maybe the friendship would carry you through.

But if love and friendship alone aren’t the foundation, then what is?

If a love that lights up the sky, and a friendship deep enough to sense the shifts in each other’s souls, still isn't enough to sustain the long haul - what remains?

Maybe it’s respect.

Maybe it’s shared values, a common vision, and the mutual desire to build something enduring.

Maybe it’s the courage to grow - individually and together.

Or perhaps it is all of this, and more.

Maybe it’s choice.

Intention.

Commitment.

A commitment to choose your partner through the lowest valleys and the highest peaks.

A commitment to understand them deeply - to be relentlessly, tenderly curious. To know all their idiosyncrasies.

A commitment to love them even on the days you don’t particularly like them.

A commitment to witness their life fully, until the very end.

So perhaps it is all a practice, a daily devotion to another imperfect soul.

And perhaps it is simply a sacred vow: I will not look away.
